Android Auto is an extremely useful feature that you find on Android phones, including Samsung's Galaxy devices. It connects to the car's infotainment display and provides an easy to use dashboard for quick access to Google Maps, phone calls, messages, Spotify, and more.

Like most Google services, Android Auto is available everywhere except China. So Samsung developed an alternative called Samsung Auto that's only available in China and nowhere else. It's been introduced with One UI 7.

It's even better than Android Auto in a couple of areas

Samsung Auto works much in the same way as Android Auto. It provides a dashboard with apps and has Bixby as the voice assistant. It connects with compatible vehicles either using Baidu CarLife+ or ICCOA CarLink wired or wirelessly. The app includes a full list of vehicles that Samsung Auto is compatible with.

While images of Samsung Auto on a car's infotainment display are not available, since someone from China will need to provide them, screenshots of the Samsung Auto app running on a Galaxy S25 Ultra show that the dashboard is quite similar in its look and feel to Android Auto.

It provides easy access to navigation, music, and other controls. There are quick navigation features as well which work in the same way that Google Maps sends directions to a car's infotainment system. There's also a location-based navigation feature that can extract addresses from messages and easily route the user to that location.

Some Chinese apps support quick navigation where they display a shortcut button through which the address can instantly be shared to the car's display. This is a feature that Android Auto would benefit from.

It's unlikely that Samsung Auto will ever make its way out of China as Android Auto is ubiquitous elsewhere, but it's interesting to see that Samsung went through all of this effort to create an exclusive feature for a country where its smartphone market share is below 1%.
