Last year, Samsung attempted and arguably succeeded in revitalizing the mobile segment with the release of Galaxy AI. This year, the latest Galaxy S25 flagship phones received Galaxy AI improvements, while the new mid-range Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 received Awesome Intelligence. But what are the differences between Galaxy AI and Awesome Intelligence, if any?
In short, both Galaxy AI and Awesome Intelligence are blanket terms that describe sets of features, many of which have an AI element powering them. But while Galaxy AI consists of Samsung's best and most comprehensive AI tools, Awesome Intelligence refers to simpler tools, most of which don't have a generative AI element.
Using the Galaxy S25 series as an example, the latest Galaxy AI features include:
All these Galaxy AI features are available on the Galaxy S25 series. On the other hand, the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 lack Galaxy AI, even though they run One UI 7, similar to Samsung's flagships.
The other blanket term Samsung uses, i.e., Awesome Intelligence, consists of other features. Some have been available before the Galaxy AI trend even began. But for what it's worth, here is what Awesome Intelligence boasts on the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56:
It's worth noting that some features, such as Gemini and Circle to Search, are not listed inside the Galaxy AI or Awesome Intelligence menus but are available across the 2025 mid-range and flagship Galaxy phones alike.
Furthermore, while the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 don't have the powerful Galaxy AI features you will find on the Galaxy S25, Awesome Intelligence tools (or better substitutes) are available on the flagship phones. AI select, for example, is present on the S25 and 2025 A-series devices.
All in all, if you're looking for the best AI experience, the Galaxy S25 is your best bet. On the other hand, if you are in the market for a budget phone with some clever features (some of which are arguably not very AI-like), Awesome Intelligence can improve your user experience in several ways, albeit without powerful generative AI.
The Galaxy A56 is not yet available in the USA, but the Galaxy A36 and S25 are. The Galaxy S25 enables the best Galaxy AI experience. The Galaxy A36 has Gemini, Circle to Search, and all the Awesome Intelligence features mentioned above, except for Read aloud.
