Samsung has been launching SmartThings-enabled smart home appliances for years, and one of the advantages of such appliances is that their data can be extracted for multiple reasons. The company has now announced that it will use smart connectivity on those appliances in more countries to make it easier to remotely detect and diagnose their issues.

Samsung is expanding the availability of the Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM) feature in its smart home appliances across 122 countries worldwide. This feature, which was first launched in South Korea in 2020, is now available in 17 languages, including Czech, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

The company has been launching more touchscreen-equipped home appliances every year. Earlier, touchscreen displays were only available in its Family Hub refrigerators. Now, such touchscreen displays are available even on Bespoke series microwaves, refrigerators, and washers/dryers. Users with such appliances can share screens in real time with service center advisors for faster diagnosis of issues such as display issues, app problems, and multimedia playback issues.

HRM improves the efficiency of after-sales service, as minor issues can be diagnosed and solved remotely. For example, when a user complains about unreponsive buttons on their washing machine, remote diagnostic can reveal that they've accidentally turned on the child lock feature, and the service center staff can remotely explain how to disable the feature to the user.

In other cases, service engineers can extract required diagnostic data before they visit the user's home and study that information to speed up the resolution. Compared to January 2025, the use of HRM for remote diagnosis of issues doubled in July 2025. Samsung plans to bring the feature to more device categories in more countries and languages in the future.

Miyoung Yoo, EVP and Head of Global Customer Satisfaction Team at Samsung's Digital Appliance (DA) Business, said, “Samsung’s HRM service exemplifies our commitment to proactive, smart customer care. Thanks to the combination of seamless connectivity and real-time insights, this service helps to reduce complexity for our customers, ultimately enhancing their overall satisfaction.
