With One UI 8.0, Samsung introduced a new feature that protects users from voice phishing attacks. It is currently available on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in South Korea, but it will be expanded to other countries in the future. The company has now detailed how the technology works.
Samsung's ‘Suspected Voice Phishing Call Alert' is embedded within its stock Samsung Phone app and works on Galaxy phones and tablets running One UI 8.0. It uses on-device AI to detect in real-time if an incoming call from an unknown number is related to voice phishing and then alerts the user.

It displays two types of alerts: ‘Suspicion' and ‘Warning'. The Suspicion alert is a yellow warning that displays the “Suspected of voice phishing” message on the screen while also alerting the user during an ongoing call with an alert tone and a vibration. The Warning alert is a red warning that displays the “Warning: Voice phishing detected” message on the phone's display along with an alert tone and a vibration three times.
Samsung developed this feature through data from over 30,000 voice phishing records provided by the National Police Agency and the National Institute of Scientific Investigation and using the deep learning technique. The company started using the data in 2024. Users can activate this feature by opening the stock Phone app on their compatible Galaxy phone, heading to its Settings menu, and enabling the Suspected Voice Phishing Call Notification feature.
Kim Jung-sik, Vice President of Samsung MX, said, “Samsung Electronics will continue to strengthen its technology to block voice phishing and malicious messages, and will do its best to provide a safer mobile environment for Galaxy users.“

Starting October 2022, Samsung started displaying safety tick marks on its phones for text messages sent by companies certified by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). From September 2024, it started blocking malicious messages on Galaxy devices in South Korea running One UI 6.1 (or newer). The feature uses the message sender's number, dangerous URLs (links), and spam content based on data provided by the KISA.
In March 2025, Samsung started offering the Intelligence Blocking feature with the Galaxy S25 series. It uses AI deep learning to save users from harmful messages, and it has already blocked over 100 million such messages on devices running One UI 7.0 (or newer). The company also displays a suspected spam warning for incoming voice calls.
