Samsung System LSI is the division that develops the Exynos chipsets which are then bought by Samsung MX to use in its smartphones. MX has done LSI a solid this year by buying the Exynos 2500 for use in the Galaxy Z Flip 7, making it the first Samsung foldable phone to use an Exynos chipset as all previous iterations have used a Snapdragon chipset.
There has been speculation that MX might use the Exynos 2600 for the Galaxy S26 series next year, but there's no confirmation as yet, and even the chip team can't say anything for sure right now.
Speaking at the NAEK Young Festival in Seoul today Park Yong-in, president of Samsung System LSI, remained confident that the product performance and order situation will improve in the second half of this year.
He added that “step by step,” working on key products like the Exynos 2600 is going well, and that “there will be good results.” LSI has secured orders for both the Exynos 2500 and Exynos 2400, as MX is using the chipset in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, respectively.
When asked specifically about the progress of the Exynos 2600, Park said “We are preparing well,” but stopped short of confirming if the chipset will be used for the Galaxy S26 series, saying that it's the “customer's jurisdiction.”
MX has broadened its supply chain out of affiliated Samsung companies even more in recent years, such as sourcing fewer memory chips from within the conglomerate and bringing Micron into the mix for the Galaxy S25 series. Micron is also expected to provide memory chips for the Galaxy S26 series.
Multiple reports had suggested that MX wanted to use the Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy S25 as well but yield issues forced it to go all Snapdragon instead. Surely LSI understands by now that MX won't hesitate to drop Exynos chips the moment it feels the required thresholds can't be met.
