There's been a lot of exciting for Samsung's first tri-fold phone. It has been in the pipeline for a very long time and despite the company providing a glimpse of it in public for the first time ever, not much is known about when it will finally hit the market.
Some clarity may have emerged courtesy of the Q3 2025 earnings release that Samsung sent out today. It mentions that form factor innovations are coming in 2026, likely a subtle hint as to its plans for the tri-fold.
Samsung recently showcased the tri-fold phone, secured safely in a glass box, during a summit in South Korea. People were able to take images from afar but that was the extent of the device's public interaction.
There are no details about its specs or features at this point in time, and certainly no information about its pricing and availability. Samsung is playing its cards pretty close to the chest with this device.
Laying out the roadmap for Samsung's mobile division in 2026, the company mentions in the earnings release that the division will expand its AI leadership with “form factor innovations” and also expand AI smartphone sales.
You wouldn't necessarily call new iterations of the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip as “innovations,” as new models are just par for the course. A tri-fold, though, would sit firmly within the innovation category.
The first public outing of the device also confirms that Samsung is confident enough to start putting this device out there, so it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that we may not see a tri-fold being launched in 2026.

It may only be a matter of months
