The Galaxy S Ultra phones offer the best camera experience on any Samsung device. Not even the foldables offer the kind of camera hardware that the Ultra does.
Samsung tends to introduce significant upgrades for the camera every two years and there's an expectation that we may see some next years, and new rumors are also pointing to that possibility.
The scale of the camera improvements might be so significant that it prompts a major design shift, the rumor claims, with Samsung bringing back the camera island to house the better hardware.
Samsung last used the camera island design, which houses the sensors in a raised platform at the back, on the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The company transitioned to a different design later on that had the lenses sticking out from the back glass directly.
It's claimed that the design shift will be necessary due to the upgrades made to the primary sensor and the zoom camera, as Samsung is focused on significantly improving their capabilities.
It appears that the Galaxy S26 Ultra might represent one of the biggest shifts in design language for this model. It's largely been molded in the essence of the Galaxy Note series, with sharp lines and an angular design. Other rumors claim that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have more curved corners reminiscent of the typical Galaxy S series design.
It's still early days, though, so nothing's a line in the sand right now, and things could change by the time Samsung locks everything down for its next flagship phone.
