Samsung has two very interesting products that it's going to launch before the end of this year. There's the hotly anticipated tri-fold phone and the company's Project Moohan headset that may be launched as the Galaxy XR.
A previous reported had revealed when the company might launch the device, and new information has now surfaced about when it may start taking pre-registrations for it.
In recent years, Samsung has started taking pre-registrations for its upcoming products. It usually puts up a page on its website a week or so before launch, building up hype that a new major product is coming and customers can pre-register to be first in line for pre-orders. It will often provide an incentive such as a credit to customers who pre-register.
Korean media is reporting that Samsung will begin pre-registration for the Galaxy XR headset on October 15. The registrations will be accepted for one week before the Galaxy XR headset is formally unveiled on October 21. Earlier reports have also suggested that the headset will be launched in the third week of October.
Samsung has worked with Qualcomm and Google on this headset. Qualcomm's chipset powers the headset whereas Google has developed the Android XR platform that headsets from Samsung and other Android manufacturers will use. Samsung has taken care of everything else on this headset.
The company has showcased the headset on several occasions this year. It was most recently displayed at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, where the company unveiled its latest Snapdragon chipset.
Pricing and availability information isn't available as yet, but it's believed that Samsung may only offer the headset in limited markets, with the device being priced over $2,000.
