One UI 8 leaks over the past few days have captured the attention of Samsung fans. We've also tested the firmware on several devices and found refinements that Samsung intends to make to several features.
Some information has now surfaced about the improvements that One UI 8 will make to the Now Bar. It will display additional details on the lock screen, such as particulars of ongoing phone calls and the device's Do Not Disturb status.
Now Bar is a new dynamic user interface element that was introduced with One UI 7. It's also displayed on the lock screen as a widget and provides information like sports scores, displays the stopwatch, and provides controls for media playback.
Screenshots posted on X reveal that the Now Bar will be improved with One UI 8. The lock screen widget will display phone call information, including the duration of the ongoing call and the contact name. The Now Bar will also reflect the device's Do Not Disturb status.
It's known already that Now Bar will be refined further with the upcoming firmware update. It's going to have the standard UI design on the cover screen of Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip phones, matching its UI on the main screen.
Samsung is expected to launch the One UI 8 beta program next month. The company is believed to be targeting the release of One UI 8 soon after the new foldables are released in July this year. One UI 8 will also bring Android 16, the latest version of Google's mobile operating system.
