After releasing the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy A16 and the Galaxy A16 5G last week, Samsung has now released the One UI 7 update (read its features here) for the Galaxy F16. It is the first major Android OS and One UI update for the entry-level phone. The update brings a new UI design, improved smoothness, new and improved features, and better privacy and security.

Galaxy F16 gets One UI 7 (Android 15) update in India

The Android 15-based One UI 7 is now out for the Galaxy F16 in India. It comes with firmware version E166PXXU2BYE5 and has a download size of around 2.72GB. It does not bring the May 2025 security patch to the phone, though, as it is still on the April 2025 security patch.

If you are a Galaxy F16 user in India, you can now check for the new update on your device. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update » Download and install. After the software has been downloaded completely, tap the Install now button. The phone will then restart after a few minutes once the installation is finished.

The Galaxy F16 was launched with Android 14 onboard and Samsung promised to release six major Android OS updates to the phone. Android 15-based One UI 7 is the first of those six updates.

The phone will get five more major Android OS and One UI updates in the future, starting with Android 16-based One UI 8 before the end of this year.

Galaxy F16 gets several new features and improvements with One UI 7

One UI 7 brings a massively redesigned UI, featuring separated pages for accessing notifications and quick setting toggles. You can access notifications by swiping down from the top center of the screen and quick settings from the top right part of the screen. But you can merge them if you don't like this change. Notifications appear bigger, in pill-shaped entries, while Quick Panel is now more customizable and has a volume slider.

It also brings a slightly refreshed design for all the stock app's icons. There are smoother and more playful animations. The charging animation has also been revamped along with the battery icon in the status bar. There are a lot of widgets for the home screen, and they are now more customizable. The lock screen clock widget is also more customizable.

The landscape view of home screen has also been improved. One UI 7 also brings Large Folders, which let you open apps without opening the folder first. The app drawer gets vertical scrolling UI as the default option.

The Now Bar, which appears on the lock screen, displays ongoing activities, such as scores of your favorite sports. It also displays maps navigation, media playback, Samsung Health workouts, stopwatch, and timer, among other things. The Now Bar can also be accessed by tapping the pill-shaped chip in the status bar and from the top of the notifications screen.

The Camera app now has a new layout that is easier to use with one hand, as all the controls are towards the bottom of the screen (when phone is held in portrait orientation). Mode selection, grid layout, and zoom controls have also been improved. The built-in image and video editors have also received UI and feature improvements. You can create collages from the Gallery app and edit collages in Stories.

One UI 7 brings new badges and the Mindfulness feature in Samsung Health. When multiple pop-up windows of the same app are minimized, they are minimized into the app icon. When you click that app icon again, all the minimized pop-up windows are previewed.

You can group your alarms to turn on or off all of them at the same time. You can also keep the same alarm volume for all your alarms. Modes and Routines has received new options and conditions. There are several improvements to the Calendar app.

Quick Share has been improved, and it displays your own devices signed in with the same Samsung Account or previously connected devices at the top. Files can also be sent over the internet when the devices are out of each other's reach. The Nearby Devices menu makes it easier to connect available devices nearby and check which features are available when the two devices are connected.

One UI 7 also brings more battery health protection features. Samsung has also improved accessibility features, contacts list, Smart Select, and weather activity forecasts. It has also brought a feature that lets you quickly add boarding passes to Samsung Wallet.
