Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series brought many new features, one of them being Now Brief. The brand later offered it to the Galaxy S24 lineup with the beta version of Android 16-based One UI 8.0. With that move, users of the Galaxy S23 series expected Now Brief on their phones too. However, it looks like they may not get the feature.
At the start of this month, Samsung opened the One UI 8 Beta Program for the Galaxy S23 series. Unfortunately, it didn’t include Now Brief. Many people hoped the brand would add the feature with the second beta version of the new software. But yesterday, Samsung released One UI 8 Beta 2 for the phone, and it still didn’t bring the feature.
If Samsung hasn’t included the feature in the first two beta versions, it is almost certain that it won’t appear later. Usually, if Samsung plans to add a new feature, it does so in the first or second beta release.
So, why isn’t Samsung offering the feature? Is it because the Galaxy S23’s hardware isn’t capable of running it? We don’t think so, because the phone can handle many AI tasks with ease. It seems more likely that Samsung wants to reserve the feature for newer phones to differentiate them from older models and encourage upgrades.
That’s something most brands do, so Samsung isn’t an exception here. On the bright side, the tech giant has added many features to the Galaxy S23 series with One UI 8, including several improvements in productivity, accessibility, and security. You can check out the complete changelog here.
