As we edge closer to the potential launch of the Galaxy S26, crucial details like the phones’ camera hardware and processor remain uncomfirmed. However, a new report claims to unveil the expected processor for each Galaxy S26 model. This report, particularly about the Galaxy S26 Ultra, might delight Snapdragon enthusiasts.

Galaxy S26 Ultra could go all in with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

A report from ChosunBiz claims that Samsung will announce the Galaxy S26 in late January 2026 and start selling phones in the lineup in February 2026. It also claims that the company has decided to use the Exynos 2600 in the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26+. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will reportedly use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (for Galaxy version) chip from Qualcomm.

If this information is correct, it will make Snapdragon fans quite happy. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is a 3nm chip fabricated by TSMC and features improved CPU and GPU performance. It also brings better cellular network connectivity. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is also expected to use UFS 4.1 storage and faster RAM for an overall improved performance.

The report doesn't clarify if the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26+ would use the Exynos 2600 chip worldwide. However, there is a good chance of both those phones using the Snapdragon chip in select markets like Canada, China, and the USA.

What to expect from Galaxy S26 Ultra and its features?

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen with QHD+ resolution, a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, and an anti-glare coating. It could have a 12MP front-facing camera with autofocus, a 200MP primary rear camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, a 10MP/12MP OIS telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP OIS telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

The upcoming flagship phone could have 16GB RAM, 256GB-1TB storage, a 5,000mAh battery, 60W fast wired charging, and 15W Qi2 wireless charging. The phone could have stereo speakers, an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and an S Pen stylus.
