Chromebooks aren't known for gaming, but Google is trying ways to make them better for gaming. Earlier, it brought the official Steam client to ChromeOS devices, added support for more powerful hardware and RGB lights, and brought cloud game streaming support.

Now, the company is offering a 12-month access to NVIDIA's GeForce Now cloud game streaming for free for 12 months.

Anyone who buys a new Chromebook starting today will get free access to GeForce Now for 12 months. If you own games on Steam and Xbox, you can stream them from NVIDIA's servers to your Chromebook. You can stream from a collection of over 2000 PC games.

You will get 1080p game streams at 60fps, but that should be fine for most Galaxy Chromebooks. It is the Fast Pass tier, which means you won't see advertisements or have to wait in a queue like free users have to. However, there is one restriction: you can access the service for only 10 hours every month. Up to five unused hours will be rolled over to the next month. After 10 hours, you will start seeing ads and won't get priority access.

Looking at this, it seems like Google wants to attract casual gamers who likely don't own a gaming console or a gaming PC.
