Samsung’s SmartThings is one of the world’s largest smart home platforms, and it is compatible with Matter, Zigbee, and Z-Wave standards. Now, the company is making it easier to build, develop, and certify SmartThings-compatible smart home devices.

The South Korean firm has announced that it is revamping its SmartThings Developer Center. It will feature a streamlined experience to help brands build, test, and certify smart home devices using Matter, SmartThings, SmartThings Find, Zigbee, Z-Wave, or in-house cloud-connected platforms and standards.

Samsung says it has reworked the entire product creation process to make it simpler. The new development system will provide brands and device makers with a path to turn an idea into a device, add smart home integrations, perform testing, obtain necessary certifications, and even gain insights once products are purchased and set up by users.

There will be a single console to view all devices and development activity, regardless of which standard the device uses. It will also offer the real-time status of devices, provide analytics through SmartThings Partner Analytics, and suggest next steps to help partners further optimize their devices.

Samsung recently introduced the ability to create Shareable Routines, which allow Works With SmartThings (WWST) certified smart home devices to showcase their capabilities and integration with other devices in the ecosystem. SmartThings users can easily import those routines into their smart home setup once they configure a device.

Shareable Routines not only improves product discovery but also increases engagement. If a user does not have a required product, they can purchase it using links provided with the routine.
