It was revealed earlier this week that Samsung is likely skipping One UI 7 for its Galaxy Watch and going straight to One UI 8. This was based on a build of the One UI 8 Watch firmware that's leaked and now more information has been extracted from it.

This includes updated system sounds, including a new version of Samsung's signature Over the Horizon tune, updated app icons, and confirmation that Gemini AI is coming to the smartwatches as well.

The leaked assets have been posted by @DevOfIpos on X. The new system sounds include tunes for everything from the camera shutter to charging and low battery indication. That's to be expected, as these tunes are typically refreshed with every major firmware update.

One UI 8 Watch will also bring new icons to eligible Galaxy Watch models. They're similar to the ones introduced with One UI 7, and since Samsung is skipping an iteration and going straight to One UI 8 Watch, it makes sense why familiar icons are being used.

Lastly, it has also been confirmed that Google Assistant has been replaced by Gemini AI on One UI 8 Watch. This was to be expected, as Gemini AI is now front and center on Samsung's smartphones. Google had itself confirmed that Gemini would be coming to Wear OS smartwatches later this year. Samsung's smartwatches run Wear OS with the One UI custom skin on top.

There may be other significant new features included in One UI 8 Watch, particularly AI-focused and pertaining to health and fitness, we can expect to hear more about them in the coming weeks. Samsung would likely release One UI 8 Watch in the second half of this year, that's also when One UI 8 is expected to arrive for Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
