Samsung has held the annual Samsung Developer Conference for several years now, bringing together partners, developers, and the media to showcase its new software innovations in a day-long event.

The company typically confirms dates for the event over two months in advance, but that didn't happen this year. Now Samsung's own website confirms that no developer conference is planned for this year.

No way SDC this happening this year

The Samsung Developer Conference 2024 took place in San Jose on October 3. It had confirmed the date back in August 2024. One would have expected similar advance announcement this time around, but none of the official Samsung Developer accounts dropped even so much as a hint about the conference.

This had already led to speculation that perhaps there's no event this year. If it were happening, SDC 2025 would likely have taken place in October 2025. The events page on the Samsung Developer website doesn't list any event, which effectively confirms that there's not going to be a developer conference in 2025.

The reason why Samsung has decided against the conference this year is unknown. Perhaps it felt that since both One UI 7 and One UI 8 are now out, there wasn't enough substance to share.

Maybe it feels that the software innovations for consumer electronics and appliances are better highlighted at CES, where Samsung will have its biggest installation ever next year. Galaxy AI will always be prominent at its Unpacked events, so even it didn't warrant special attention at a developer conference.

We've reached out to Samsung for a comment on the matter and will update the story when a response is received.
