downgrade HTC Hero ROM using GoldCard method

This guide will show you how to downgrade HTC Hero ROM using "GoldCard" method.
1. Set Up ADB and USB Drivers

Follow this tutorial to set up ADB/USB Drivers.
If you already have this done, skip this step.
2. Create "GoldCard" from MicroSD Card(You can Also can make this In HXC Dongle)
Put the SD you want to use for the GoldCard into your phone.

On your phone, goto Settings->SD->Phone storage, then click Unmount SD card. Once it unmounts, click Format SD card. (Please keep in mind that this will erase all data on your SD Card)

On the Phone, goto Settings->Applications->Development and then make sure USB Debugging is checked (it should be already checked).

Plug the phone into the computer and open the Command Prompt. Then type the following with hitting enter at the end of each line.

cd\
cd\AndroidSDK\tools\
adb devices
adb shell
cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid

A code will display, write the code down.
Goto Soaa.me - (write down, copy, paste, and then) One-click hex reverse for GoldCard creation, then put in your code you just wrote down into the text box and click submit. It will generate the code reversed (it will replace the first two digits with zeros automatically). Write that down and continue.
Goto Free HTC goldcard generator | RevSkills and enter your email in the appropriate field and for CID enter the reversed CID you just copied down.
Click continue and then you will receive your goldcard.img via email. Once it arrives save it to your computer.

Download the HxD Hex Editor from here and install it to your computer.

Take your SD card out of your phone and put it into the SD adapter. Then put that into your computer so it shows up on your computer as Removable Disk.

Open HxD Hex Editor (Run as Administrator if you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7) and click on the Extra tab, then click on Open Disk. Under Physical Disk select Removable Disk (your SD card you just put into the computer). Make sure to uncheck "Open as ReadOnly" and click OK.

Goto the Extra tab again and click Open Disk Image. Open up the goldcard.img that you saved from your email. You should now have two tabs, one is the SD card (Removable Disk) and the other is the goldcard.img
Press OK when prompted for Sector Size 512 (Hard Disks/Floppy Disks).

Click on the Goldcard.img tab and click on the Edit tab and click Select All. Then click on the Edit tab again and click Copy.

Click on the Removable Disk tab (Your SD Card) and select offset 00000000 to 00000170 then click on the Edit tab and click Paste Write.

Click on File->Save, then close the hex editor.

Take out the SD card from the computer, then put it back in.

Try to open the SD on the computer, if it lets you, you are all set. If it asks you to reformat the SD card, then open HxD Hex Editor and repeat the procedure again. If it gives you the same error again, then try a different SD card.

Put the GoldCard into your phone and reboot the phone with the GoldCard inside.

3. Downgrade the Hero using the Goldcard

Download and install HTC Sync from HTC if is not installed on your computer. If you are using HTC Hero and Microsoft Windows 7 you have to follow this procedure to install HTC Sync.

Plug in your phone via USB cable to your computer (make sure the GoldCard is in the phone).

Once HTC Sync is installed and your phone is plugged in, pull down the notification bar on the phone and select HTC Sync. Make sure it connects to HTC Sync on the computer.

Download the Original HTC Hero RUU and run it while the phone is plugged in with the GoldCard in it and follow the on screen instructions.

Downgrading G1 T-Mobile01.Download the factory reset firmware.
If you have the USA version download this file: HappyNewYear.zip
If you have the UK version download this file: HappyNewYearUK.zip

MD5sum: (HappyNewYear.zip) = 4f0efb2037524a06bda26f286bba474d
MD5sum: (HappyNewYearUK.zip) = b253b71fad2ed0352bcb58c4966b9a25
02.Connect your G1 to your computer and mount the SD card.
03.Backup the content of the SD card.
04.Format the SD card to FAT32 mode.
05.Unzip the zipfile and copy the file DREAIMG.nbh to the SD card.
06Rename DREAIMG.nbh to DREAIMG.NBH (might also work without the capitals…, but better save than sorry).
07.Unmount the SD card.
08.Unplug the USB cable.
09.Turn the G1 off.
10.Hold the Camera button and press the Power button to start in bootloader mode.
11.Press the power button to start the downgrade to RC29 USA or RC7 UK
(this takes a few minutes, dont interupt the progress)
12.After finishing, softreset the G1 to reboot (Hold Call, Menu and End).

If everything went well, you are now a proud owner of a rooted G1. Sign in with your Gmail account. If the login fails, you might need to add your APN settings (use the Menu button to add a new APN profile)

downgrade your MyTouch 4G from the recently released OTA to the stock build. This guide will show you how to downgrade your MyTouch 4G from the recently released OTA to the stock build.

This WILL wipe your device! I am not responsible for any damages!
NOTICE: A lot of people have reported -including me- that using this method to downgrade your firmware will cause your MT4G to not receive the OTA that was released right after the phone was.

What You Need:
Hex Editor such as Bliss
Temp-rooted MyTouch 4G
ADB
This ROM - Stock ROM

1. Download the ROM and rename to PD15IMG.zip
2. Place PD15IMG.zip on the root of your SD card
3. Un-mount SD Card
4. adb shell
5. su
6. Now, run this command:

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17 of=/sdcard/misc.img

7. Mount your SD card
8. Copy misc.img from your SD card to your computer
9. Now open the misc.img on your computer in your Hex Editor
10. You should see something like:

1.17.531.2

11. Change that to:
Code:
1.14.531.1
12. Now save as miscnew.img
13. Unmount your SD Card now
14. Now in adb shell run this command:

dd if=/sdcard/miscnew.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17

15. Power off your device
16. Now boot into Hboot by holding down "volume down + power"
17. The phone will scan for PD15IMG.zip and will ask you to flash it
18. Select Yes [DUH!]

You should now be downgraded from the 2.2.1 OTA back to stock 2.2!

Desire S downgrade with S-ON.Warning! I don't recommend this to users who are new to Android since there is a possibility of bricking your device. I will not be responsible if this happens.

It will downgrade everything even the HBoot using a HTC signed ROM. I've downgraded RUU_Saga_Telstra_WWE_1.36.841.3 with HBoot 0.98.0002 to Hboot 0.98.0000 of RUU_Saga_HTC_Thailand_1.35.1113.2.

First you need below tools and applications. I will not explain everything since I'm assuming you already know how to use it and make it.

1. ADB tool to access you device thru shell.
2. ADB driver - you may install HTC Sync since it has ADB driver in it.
3. HEX Editor - I used HxD.
4. Spare micro SD with Goldcard.
5. Card reader to make your life easier.
6. Update.zip ROM you will use to downgrade(rename it to PG88IMG.zip).
6. GingerBreak-v1.20.apk to temp root our device.

Step 1: Copy GingerBreak-v1.20.apk to your spare micro SD and insert it into your phone.

Step 2: Enable USB debugging in your device and connect it to your PC(Charge only). Make sure the drivers are installed properly. If not, install HTC Sync.

Step 3: Install and run GingerBreak-v1.20.apk. It will force close other apps(this is normal just close it). The gingerbreak application will promp that something goes wrong with the rooting(can't remember the actual spiel) but actually we already have our temp root.

Step 4: Run you ADB tool and issue command su to have root access. You can now see in your device that Superuser app is prompting you to allow the ADB root access. Accept it.

Step 5: On the # prompt, issue command dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17 of=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p17.img (to copy mmcblk0p17 to your SDcard). Power off your device and copy mmcblk0p17.img to your PC.(You can also use the command shell to copy it into your PC if you know how to do it).

Step 6: Open mmcblk0p17.img using your Hex editor. On the 11th line(I think), modify the current version to 1.28.401.1(since this is the lowest version I know). Save it and copy back to SDcard. Insert the sdcard and turn your phone on.

Step 7: Run GingerBreak-v1.20.apk again and follow step 3 to 4.

Step 8: On the # prompt, issue command dd if=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p17.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17 (to copy back mmcblk0p17.img to your phone). Do this as quickly as possible since the temp root access sometimes loose its effect.

Step 9: Power off your device and remove your SDcard. Using your card reader, delete everything(not format) in your microSD(with Goldcard) and paste your PG88IMG.zip.

Step 10: Hold volume down + power to boot to recovery and the phone will do the installation itself. Wait until you have your downgraded ROM.

This is how I do it. Hope you won't encounter any problem with this procedure. Good luck!

Downgrade HTC Magic/Sapphire/my touch.1. Download the sappimg.nbh :

SAPPIMG.nbh(Works for all Magics and the Old MyTouch)

Zip File (Works for the new MyTouch w/ 3.5mm headphone jack) RENAME IT TO sappimg.zip (not sappimg.zip.zip, just sappimg and its a .zip file!)

2. Save the sappimg.nbh/sappimg.zip file to your SD card. As always, do not place it in any folder on the SD card, just on the SD card.

3. Put the SD card into the phone and turn the phone on by holding down Volume Down and Power.

4. Push the trackball down on that screen and wait for it to pick up the Sappimg.nbh.

5. Push the trackball to begin, it should automatically update from there.

6. Once the flashing is fully complete, reboot the phone. DONE!
