If you’re a fan of Samsung Notes, One UI 8.5 brings a few changes you’ll likely appreciate. Samsung is giving the app a visual refresh alongside some practical new features, and we’ve taken an early look at what’s coming.

We break it all down in our latest video, which you can watch below or on the imeisource YouTube channel.

The most noticeable change is the visual overhaul. Samsung Notes now better matches the One UI 8.5 design language, with more depth, card-style UI elements, and a search bar that’s easier to reach thanks to its new bottom placement.

Beyond the immediate visual changes, the updated Samsung Notes app also introduces several functional tweaks and additions:

    • The hamburger menu now appears as a floating pop-up card
    • Several options have been moved into the Advanced settings tab
    • PDFs can now be saved in two formats, either for Samsung Notes or for third-party PDF readers
    • A new table tool lets you add tables directly into documents
    • You can choose to search across all notes or only within the current folder
    • The search bar sits at the bottom, though the search button itself remains closer to the top

One UI 8.5 builds on One UI 8.0 rather than reinventing it, and this version of Samsung Notes reflects that approach. The interface looks cleaner and more modern, new features improve everyday usability, and search continues to play a central role in the experience.

Samsung is currently testing One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S25 in select markets. The first stable release is expected to arrive with the Galaxy S26 series next month.
