Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic are the first smartwatches to offer Google Gemini out of the box, which is significantly better than Google Assistant in the previous Galaxy Watches in many ways. Well, if you are an older Galaxy Watch (with Wear OS) user, there’s no need to be jealous, because Gemini is here for your wearable too.
Google has announced that it has started rolling out Gemini to Wear OS wearables from Samsung (and Google, Oppo, OnePlus, and Xiaomi). According to the brand, Gemini will reach all the Wear OS 4+ smartwatches “over the coming weeks.” That means all Samsung watches with Wear OS are eligibl to get Gemini, right from the Galaxy Watch 4 to Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra.
The news does’t come as a surprise because in May 2025, Samsung had announced that the change was arriving soon. What is surprising is that Google is rolling it out so quickly after Samsung showcased the feature yesterday.
Compared to Google Assistant, you can have more natural and conversational interaction with Gemini. However, that's not the only way it is better the older virtual assistant. The new one also offers more capabilities. For starters, it can provide answers to more questions in a better manner and carry out more complex tasks.
Google says, you can ask “For how long should I roast sliced vegetables, and at what temperature?” to Gemini on your Galaxy Watch and the AI assistant will provide you an answer. The brand also says that with Wear OS 6, Gemini will work with “your watch brand’s own apps,” which is something we saw at the Galaxy Unpacked yesterday.
