RCS is a huge upgrade over SMS, as it brings almost all modern features that are available on instant messaging platforms like iMessage, Telegram, and WhatsApp. It is now bringing support for PDF files so that you can get all your purchase receipts and boarding passes directly on Google Messages on your Galaxy phone. However, it also opens the door for PDF spam.

Google Messages now supports for PDF file attachments for businesses

Google has announced (via Android Authority) support for PDF files and custom previews on Google Business Messaging. It means businesses can send necessary PDF files to you without relying on emails. So, you can get things like purchase receipts, tickets, boarding passes, and other documents directly in your message inbox.

This new feature also supports custom PDF preview, so businesses can use an attractive-looking image as a preview for a particular document. As you can see in the image above, if a preview image is not provided by a business, a default thumbnail is displayed for a PDF attachment.

This feature is currently live on Google Messages in India with a PDF file size limit of 100 MiB. It could be released in other countries and markets in the future. Google Messages is the default messaging app

However, as many of you are aware, you get plenty of spam via brands and businesses on Google Messages, and PDF files could be one more way businesses might spam you with. And you can burn through your mobile data if those PDFs have a large file size. A way to reduce spam is to switch to Samsung Messages, which doesn't have spam issues as of now.
