Samsung’s first tri-folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, is closer than ever to an official launch. The company recently gave everyone their first look at the real device instead of a prototype and confirmed that it plans to bring the TriFold to users sometime this year.

While Samsung hasn’t shared a specific release timeline, the launch may not be too far away. The Galaxy Z TriFold has now been certified by the Bluetooth SIG, the organization responsible for developing and maintaining the Bluetooth standard.

The certification covers several model numbers — SM-D6390, SM-D639U, SM-D639U1, SM-D639N, and SM-D639B. Keen-eyed Samsung fans might notice that these numbers don’t follow the usual pattern Samsung uses for Galaxy devices. That’s simply a way for Samsung to disguise its upcoming products during the certification process to avoid drawing too much attention before launch.

The first two are the variants that will launch in China and South Korea, while the next two correspond to carrier-locked and unlocked versions for the United States. The final model, SM-D639B, is the international variant, but don’t get too excited just yet.

According to our sources, the only market outside the US, China, and South Korea currently planned to receive the Galaxy Z TriFold is the UAE. It may also come to Taiwan according to a recent rumor, but a proper international launch is unlikely to happen before 2026.

Interestingly, the international model received a separate certification from the other variants, suggesting there could be some hardware differences between them. However, it’s impossible to determine what those differences might be based on Bluetooth certifications alone, if any differences exist at all.
