It has only been a few months since Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7, a major upgrade for its flagship foldable, and the market's response has been exceptional. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 thus has big shoes to fill, and if early rumors are any indication, it may do just that.

The battery capacity and charging speeds didn't get any major improvements with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but a new rumor suggests that Samsung will focus on them for the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 would be an exercise in refinement

The latest rumor from the X echo chamber claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is going to have a more optimized internal architecture. What this simply means is that Samsung will ensure better use of internal space by the components to free up enough space for a larger battery and faster charging.

No claims as to the battery capacity have been made in this rumor, but it does claim that the handset will have support for 45W wired fast charging. This would be a significant improvement over the Galaxy Z Fold 7's 25W charging speed.

Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold phones have had a 4,400mAh battery for several years now, so it's about time that the company put a bigger battery in there. That might just happen next year, with some rumors claiming that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 may have a 5,000mAh battery.

Samsung can do both of these things if it wanted to. The company's first tri-fold, the Galaxy Z TriFold, has a 5,600mAh battery with 45W charging support and still measures 3.9mm at its thinnest point.

The company has the expertise and the technology required to make this happen for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 as well. One can only hope that it follows through.
