Samsung’s flagship smartphones with foldable displays from 2023, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, are getting new software updates. They bring the January 2026 security patch, which fixes 55 security issues present in the previous version of the OS.

At the moment, Samsung is rolling out these updates in its home country, South Korea. The update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 carries firmware version F946NKSSFZA1, and that for the Galaxy Z Flip is 385.52MB in size and carries firmware version F731NKSS5FZA1.

Usually, Samsung releases a new update first in South Korea, and then in other countries around the world. After rolling out an update in its home country, the brand offers it in other regions a few days later. To check for and get the latest update on your Galaxy Z Fold 5 or the Galaxy Z Flip 5, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

In the next couple of months, Samsung may release a major update to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which will offer One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2). It brings a new user interface that looks better, is more customisable, and easier to use, as well as new features. You can check out all the changes the new software brings in our video below.
