New benchmark entries for the Galaxy Tab S9+ on the Geekbench website have revealed that One UI 8 development for the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup is in full swing. Like all of the other flagship devices Samsung has launched in the last couple of years, development on the Tab S9's One UI 8 update is happening earlier and faster than usual.

Of course, Samsung didn't just start working on this update. However, when benchmarks with a newer Android version start showing up online, it's usually a sign that the company is making good progress. And after the massive delay in One UI 7's release, we will take all the good news we can get when it comes to One UI 8 and Android 16.

It remains to be seen if Samsung will offer One UI 8 in beta to Galaxy Tab S9, S9+, and S9 Ultra owners ahead of the official release. It's unlikely, as Samsung didn't include the Tab S9 series even in the One UI 7 beta program. But then again, stranger things have happened.

The One UI 8 beta isn't confirmed for the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra either. But being Samsung's latest flagship tablets, they are considerably more likely to get the beta at some point in the future. It's fine if they don't, however. One UI 8 isn't a big upgrade in terms of functionality and its official rollout is expected to start by the end of September anyway.

One UI 8 will be the third major OS upgrade for the Galaxy Tab S9 series. It's also eligible for Android 17 and One UI 9, but after that, Tab S9 owners will only receive security updates.

Thanks for the tip, Alfatürk!
