After late-stage changes to the Galaxy S26 lineup, it was rumoured that Samsung had to postpone the launch of its upcoming high-end phones. However, a new report now claims that Samsung may not have postponed the launch of the Galaxy S26 series after all, and the phones might follow the South Korean firm's usual launch routine.

Galaxy S26 could be announced in January 2026

According to a report from ChosunBiz, Samsung Electronics has confirmed the release date for the Galaxy S26 series. The company's upcoming phones will reportedly be launched in February 2026 after being announced in late January 2026. If this information is correct, the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event could happen in the last week of January next year.

A Samsung insider reportedly informed the publication that the hardware verification period for the Galaxy S26 was extended when the company decided to drop the Galaxy S26 Edge in favor of the Galaxy S26+. However, the issue was quickly resolved, making the February launch time frame possible.

The report also claims that the Exynos 2600, Samsung's first 2nm smartphone chip, will only be used in the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26+. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will reportedly come equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor in all the countries globally.

Recent reports have indicated that the Exynos 2600 will have performance that is comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, A19 Pro, and the Dimensity 9500. You can read more about the Galaxy S26 series and its features here.

The Exynos 2600 is a 2nm chip fabricated by Samsung Foundry and designed by Samsung's System LSI division. It could bring a much more powerful GPU for a better gaming experience. It could also have much better sustained performance, as the 5G modem has been separated into a different chip.
