Samsung typically launches its Galaxy S series phones early in the year. Over the past few years, these launches have occurred in late January or early February. However, the company may have delayed the launch event for the Galaxy S26 series, possibly due to recent changes in its device lineup.
A report from MoneyToday suggests that the Galaxy S26 series could be announced on February 25, 2026. The Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event is expected to take place in San Francisco, a city significant in the current era of AI. This marks Samsung’s first return to San Francisco for a Galaxy S launch since the launch of the Galaxy S23 series. A Samsung official revealed this information.
As San Francisco has been the hub of AI innovation, and Samsung has focused on integrating useful AI features into its phones, it seems the company believes launching the Galaxy S26 series in the US city is an ideal choice.
Over the past few months, several reports claimed that Samsung would introduce a significant change to the Galaxy S series with the launch of the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, due to disappointing sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge, the South Korean firm ultimately decided to abandon the Galaxy S26 Edge and revert to its traditional structure.
Samsung hinted that at least some Galaxy S26 models will feature the Exynos 2600 chip. This would make it the world’s first 2nm-class smartphone chip. Designed by Samsung’s System LSI arm and fabricated on Samsung Foundry’s 2nm process node, the chip has a 10-core CPU (ARM C1) and an AMD RDNA-based Xclipse 960 GPU.
This chip could be used in the Galaxy S26 and S26+ in all countries worldwide, except Canada, China, and the USA. The Galaxy S26 Ultra could exclusively use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chips, manufactured on TSMC’s 3nm process node.
