The Galaxy S26 Edge is one of the three Galaxy S26 phones that Samsung will reportedly launch next year. It is said to be thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge while being powered by a bigger battery. The USA variant of the Galaxy S26 Edge has now been spotted with the next-generation flagship Snapdragon chip, revealing its incredible performance.

Galaxy S26 Edge uses Snapdragon chip for incredible performance

The USA variant of the Galaxy S26 Edge, bearing model number SM-S947U, was spotted (via @yabhishekhd) in Geekbench's database. It uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chip (‘canoe'), 12GB of RAM, and Android 16 (One UI 8.0). The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 has an octa-core CPU with two prime cores capable of running at 4.74GHz and six performance cores that can run at 3.63GHz. It also features the Adreno 840 GPU.

In Geekbench 6's CPU performance benchmark, the Galaxy S26 Edge scored 3,393 points in the single-core test and 11,515 points in the multi-core test, making it more powerful than the iPhone 16 Pro Max. However, the phone was running with a maximum CPU clock speed of just 4GHz.

Since the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2's prime CPU cores can run at a maximum clock speed of 4.74GHz, the Galaxy S26 Edge can score much higher when it fully utilizes its chip. So, it can go toe-to-toe with the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max and its 3nm A19 Pro chip in terms of CPU performance. Snapdragon chips have defeated Apple's A series chips over the past few years, so the Galaxy S26 Edge will likely have better GPU performance than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Leaked Galaxy S26 Edge features and specifications

Previous reports indicate that the Galaxy S26 Edge has a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED screen, a 12MP selfie camera, a 200MP primary rear camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, 12GB RAM, 256GB/512GB storage, and a 4,200mAh battery with 45W fast charging.

It could also feature GPS, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, UWB, NFC, a USB 3.2 Type-C port, stereo speakers, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It could also feature Qi2 Ready wireless charging.
