Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy S25 series. This update brings security fixes to the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, and it also uploads the bootloader version on the phones, suggesting that we could see Samsung releasing the second One UI 8 beta update soon.

What does the bootloader version have to do with the One UI 8 beta? A bootloader is, in layman terms, the first program that runs on your device when it boots up, and on Galaxy devices, it's not possible to roll back to a firmware version that has a bootloader version lower than your current one.

The June update brings bootloader version 4 to the Galaxy S25 series, the same as that on the latest internal One UI 8 beta builds, so Samsung can now release the next beta update to the public as the matching bootloader versions mean users who install the second beta will be able to rollback their device to One UI 7 without issues.

This story is developing…
