After teasing it a few days ago, Samsung announced the launch of a new mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy M56, in India today. It is a trimmed-down version of the Galaxy A56 that was launched a few weeks ago. The new Galaxy M56 will be available for purchase from Amazon India and Samsung's website.

The Galaxy M56 has some features of the Galaxy A56, including the screen and the upgraded selfie camera. However, since it is priced lower, it lacks the IP Address rating, metal body, and stereo speakers. It also cuts down the ultrawide camera and the processor.
The phone has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ screen with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, Vision Booster, 36% slimmer bezels (compraed to Galaxy M55), Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection, and an in-display fingerprint reader.

As leaked earlier, the phone features the Exynos 1480 processor, 8GB RAM, and 128GB or 256GB storage (depending on the variant). It also features a microSD card slot, a Galaxy fan favorite. It runs Android 15-based One UI 7.0 software and will get six major Android OS updates and security patches for six years.
It has a triple camera setup on the rear, featuring a bigger 50MP primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, it sports the upgraded 12MP selfie camera. The phone can record 10-bit HDR 4K 30fps videos through its primary rear and front-facing cameras.
Connectivity features of the phone include GPS, 5G, 4G LTE, a dual-SIM card slot, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and a USB 2.0 Type-C port. The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging compatibility. The phone is quite slim (7.2mm) and lightweight (180g) for its screen size and battery capacity.

The 128GB version of the Galaxy M56 is priced at INR 27,999 (~$327), while the price of the 256GB version hasn't been revealed yet. Samsung is offering an instant discount of INR 3,000 (~$35) if the phone is purchased using an HDFC Bank credit or debit card.

The phone will be available for purchase starting April 23 at 12 PM IST from Amazon.in, Samsung India's website, and the Samsung Shop app in India. It will be available in two colors: Black and Light Green.
