Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Buds 3 FE a couple of weeks ago. Like other Galaxy Buds 3 series earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE bring a new design language, featuring a stem design. But what else has changed and improved compared to the original Galaxy Buds FE?
Let us find out.
Design
The Galaxy Buds FE look extremely similar to Samsung's first-generation Galaxy Buds. They have no stems like the AirPods do. The Galaxy Buds 3 FE feature a stem design, though, similar to the Galaxy Buds 3 and the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.

The stem makes the earbuds bigger than the Galaxy Buds FE, but it also improves the reliability and usability of touch gestures. It is also easier to take them out of the case and put them back in. The Galaxy Buds 3 FE definitely aren't for those who don't like the stem design.
The Galaxy Buds FE have an IPX2 rating for water splash resistance. In comparison, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE have an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
Audio and codecs
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Buds 3 FE with 11mm drivers, while the Galaxy Buds FE use 6.5mm drivers. While some say bigger drivers are better, that is a myth, and it all depends on how the drivers are actually tuned. There are plenty of instances where earbuds with smaller drivers sound significantly better than the ones with bigger drivers.
The Galaxy Buds FE feature a Bluetooth 5.2 chip, while the Galaxy Buds 3 FE has Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. Both earbuds support AAC, SBC, and SSC audio codecs. Neither supports the higher quality SSC UHQ audio codec that is available on the Galaxy Buds 3 and the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.

ANC and Ambient Sound
While both earbuds support active noise cancellation (ANC) and Ambient Sound modes, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE offers better ANC and Ambient Sound performance. They both support audio equalizer presets via the Galaxy Wearable app on Android devices, but only the Galaxy Buds 3 FE support custom audio equalizer settings.
The Galaxy Buds 3 FE support 360 Audio, while the Galaxy Buds FE don't. They both support Easy Pair and Buds Auto Switch for quick and efficient pairing and switching between active Samsung devices.

The Galaxy Buds FE and the Galaxy Buds 3 FE support Interpreter Mode when connected to a compatible Galaxy phone, allowing you to hear audio in the language you prefer, but the availability of languages depends on the region. The Galaxy Buds 3 FE supports Hey Gemini hotword detection, while the Galaxy Buds FE don't, as they are limited to Bixby.
The Galaxy Buds 3 FE last slightly longer than the Galaxy Buds FE when ANC is turned off. The Galaxy Buds FE have a more compact battery charging case, but the cases of both models have a USB Type-C charging port. Their official battery life claims are listed below.
