Last week, I shared my concerns regarding the Galaxy A56 experience and the One UI 8 update. I believe that the fate of the Galaxy A56 rests on One UI 8, and I am hoping that Samsung won't ruin this fantastic mid-range phone with an undercooked update.

Today, things are looking very promising for the Galaxy A56. To my surprise, the phone seems to have remained in Samsung's good grace, at least as far as punctuality is concerned. One UI 8 is now rolling out way earlier than I expected.

As you may have heard, the update debuted on the Galaxy A56 in Korea yesterday. It should arrive in more markets soon.

Why am I surprised? Well, Samsung never accepted the Galaxy A56 into the One UI 8 beta program. Despite this, it is now among the first phones to receive the stable One UI 8 build after the Galaxy S25. It certainly is the first mid-range device.

We're halfway there, but not out of the woods yet

The A56 is an awesome mid-range phone that, upon launching with One UI 7 earlier this year, finally delivered on Samsung's performance and battery life promises. I feared that a new major firmware, such as One UI 8, could upset that balance. But the timing of it all gives me hope.

The fast One UI 8 rollout we're witnessing right now is a good sign that Samsung may have taken the Galaxy A56 seriously and has given it the attention it deserves.

Simply put, I can't see how Samsung could've had this update ready as soon as it did had it not worked on optimizing One UI 8 for the Galaxy A56 behind closed doors.

Well, there is a “worst case” scenario, in that Samsung may have carelessly rushed One UI 8 out of the gate for the Galaxy A56. But I refuse to consider this scenario any further. I'd rather be hopeful.

Granted, I still am a bit worried. After all, a fast rollout in and of itself doesn't guarantee that the update is without issues. However, I want to believe that the Galaxy A56 becoming among the first to get One UI 8 so shortly after the Galaxy S25 is a good sign.

As always, time will tell. We will keep a very close eye on the Galaxy A56, and as soon as we receive One UI 8, we will let you know if the mid-range hero maintained its original qualities or if Samsung squandered them.

We're certainly off to a positive start with this timely One UI 8 release, so here's hoping that the Galaxy A56 will remain Samsung's best mid-range phone for at least one more year. It deserves it.
