A few days ago, Samsung released the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update to the Galaxy A34. As it does on many other devices, the new OS brought tons of upgrades to the phone, including a redesigned UI, smoother animations, and more features, giving it a fresh breath of life. Well, it turns out that the software offers even more things, which improve its graphics performance and allow you to monitor the GPU activity.

On Reddit, Tsuruugi points out that the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy A34 brings GPUWatch and Vulkan to the phone. The former is Samsung’s tool for observing GPU activity. Focused towards developers, it overlays GPU statistics, such as GPU Load, FPS, and other such things, in real time onto the screen. The latter, as some of you may know, is a graphics API and it replaces OpenGL to offer improved efficiency.

How to activate GPUWatch on Galaxy A34?

To use GPUWatch, go to Settings » Developer Options » GPUWatch and enable the feature. You can customise what you want the tool to show. By default, it shows FPS, CPU and GPU load, ID, API, resolution, and driver type. If you don’t see Developer Options, it means that you haven’t activated it. To activate it, go to Settings » About Phone » Software information and tap on the Build number seven times.

Once you activate GPUWatch and start playing a game, you will notice that GPUWatch shows that Vulkan is being used, which should offer better performance than OpenGL. It is great to see Samsung offering even those features to its devices with software updates that very few people demand and use. Speaking of which, Samsung is developing Android 16-based One UI 8.0, and the Galaxy A34 is eligible to get it.
