Samsung is continuing the expansion the One UI 8.0 update. After releasing the update to several high-end and mid-range phones over the past few weeks, the company has now released the update for the Galaxy A16 5G in the USA. Other countries
The Android 16-based One UI 8.0 update is now available for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy A16 5G in the USA. The update comes with firmware version A166USQU3CYIC and includes the September 2025 security patch. It is currently available on AT&T, Comcast, Cricket Wireless, DISH, MetroPCS, Spectrum Cellular, T-Mobile, and US Cellular networks in the country.
If you have a Galaxy A16 5G and live in the USA, you can check for the new update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. After the update is downloaded, tap the Install now button. The phone will then restart after a few minutes, once the installation procedure is completed.
One UI 8.0 brings improved split-screen multitasking with a 90:10 split view between the two chosen apps, Google Finance support to track stock prices via the Now Bar, and a new Quick Share design with a full-screen view with Send and Receive tabs. The update brings Gemini Live, wallpaper recommendations, and a dynamic lock screen clock widget.
It also brings Sticky Notes to Samsung Notes, a redesigned menu for the Samsung Internet app, and scientific mode in portrait view in the Calculate app. The stock Weather app now has improved graphics that feature a character that responds to current weather conditions.
The update also introduces bulk management features for alarms, calendar events, and reminders in the stock Clock, Calendar, and Reminder apps. Modes and Routines now has more actions and conditions.
Samsung Health now has new features like Antioxidant Index, Bedtime Guidance, Running Challenges, food logging reminders, and sharing health and fitness data with family members and friends.
The Camera app now has a new on-screen swipe gesture to show or hide quick camera controls. Galaxy Buds controls now appear within the Settings app, and there is no need for the Wearable app. The update also brings improved Profile Cards to the Contacts app.
One UI 8.0 also improves the security of the Secure Folder feature. Device security has also been improved through Knox Matrix. It is now easier to choose whether to display notification information on the lock screen. It is easier to organize alarms, calendar entries, and reminders in built-in Clock, Calendar, and Reminder apps.
