We've barely made it through the One UI 8.0 release and the attention has already shifted to One UI 8.5. Samsung's next major firmware update is expected to hit our phones early next year, likely after the Galaxy S26 series is released.
The One UI 8.5 builds floating around have given us a good idea of what to expect from the next major firmware update. Our colleagues at imeisource's YouTube channel have put together a whole video detailing everything that's new with app updates and features in One UI 8.5 vs One UI 8.0.
It's pertinent to note that these One UI 8.5 builds are quite early and they're missing some features, even those that are already available on One UI 8.0. Just because some existing feature doesn't appear in these builds doesn't mean it's been taken away.
A major visual upgrade has been made to the My Files app in One UI 8.5 compared to One UI 8.0. Everything appears more streamlined and cleaner so that more information can fit on the screen. The search icon has been moved down to the bottom as well.
Similar changes have been made to the Gallery app as well for seamless navigation. Stories has been named to Collections, the feature is similar but has a bit more option. Some changes have been made to Galaxy AI in the Gallery app. The various edit options are prominently displayed, AI features are smarter as well, and it even shows edit history for AI-powered changes made to the image.
Do check out the full video on YouTube for more detail about what all is new in One UI 8.5 vs One UI 8.0. Please do subscribe to the imeisource YouTube channel for more fun and informative videos.
