The foldable phone market in the USA hasn't yet plateaued, and market watchers expect the segment to grow 68% year-on-year in 2025. That is a significant leak, considering that the US foldable market recorded only an 11% year-on-year increase in 2024.

Counterpoint Research reveals that Samsung will remain the foldable phone market leader in 2025, followed by Motorola with a considerable market share of its own.

Samsung's market position is bolstered by the company's advancements in foldable phone technology this year, the introduction of a third (Fan Edition) model, and the anticipation surrounding the highly anticipated TriFold model.

Apple could change the foldable game next year

Market watchers forecast that Samsung will maintain the lead over the foldable phone market in 2026, but Apple could come in strong and rank a close second by the end of next year.

Although Apple hasn't yet confirmed any plans for the foldable phone market, analysts expect the company to join the segment in late 2026.

If that happens, chances are that Apple's entry into the foldable phone market will have a significant impact on the segment, especially in the USA, where Apple has a strong foothold and unmatched brand loyalty.

Apple may not be able to overtake Samsung in less than a year, but a foldable iPhone could overshadow Motorola's foldable device portfolio by the end of 2026.

Analysts forecast that the US foldable market will grow by 51% year-on-year in 2026.
