For other star systems with this Bayer designation, see ω Cygni.Omega1 Cygni, Latinized from ω1 Cygni, is the Bayer designation for a solitary star in the northern constellation of Cygnus. It is visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of 4.94. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 3.59 mas, it is estimated to lie roughly 950 light years from the Sun. Relative to its neighbors, this star has a peculiar velocity of 25.7±2.2 km/s.This is a somewhat evolved B-type subgiant star with a stellar classification of B2.5 IV. Telting and colleagues report it as a Beta Cephei variable with a high degree of confidence as they found regular pulsations in its spectrum in a high-resolution spectroscopy study published in 2006. Its brightness varies irregularly by 0.034 magnitude every 1.137 days.
